Airlines
There are a variety of airlines available from the Cayman Islands. Each airline offers something different and most international airlines you may likely be familiar with.
The Cayman Islands are located 480 miles south of Miami, Florida, 150 miles south of Cuba and 180 miles northwest of Jamaica. By airplane the journey takes just over an hour from Miami, 3.5 hours to New York and 4 hours 5 minutes to Toronto.
The main passenger airport in Grand Cayman is the Owen Roberts International Airport and in Cayman Brac it is the Charles Kirkconnell Airport. Little Cayman still has a grass runway served by daily inter-Island flights.
According to the Cayman Islands Government, there are approximately 116 weekly flights into the Cayman Islands including 42 flights each week between Miami and Grand Cayman with connections to Cayman Brac and Little Cayman.
Cayman Airways is the National Flag Carrier of the Cayman Islands and non-stop flights to the Sister Islands, Jamaica (Kingston and Montego Bay), Cuba (Havana), Honduras (La Ceiba and Roatan), the USA (Miami, Tampa, Los Angeles and New York), plus seasonal flights to Denver. Passengers must now pay a baggage fee of US$25 per checked luggage on all international flights.
Cayman Private Aviation is Cayman’s only locally-owned and operated luxury private jet charter. They operate a Dassault Falcon 900B which can fly up to 4,000NM, or nine hours. Their mission is to always put your time, convenience and safety at the core of everything they do. They also offer pre-paid package hours, luxury ground transport catering and helicopter charters.
British Airways flies to Grand Cayman four times a week on a Monday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday and has a brief stopover in Nassau (the Bahamas). The flight takes just over 12 hours. Please note that British Airways no longer provides any snacks (just the main meals) on their flight to Nassau and Cayman, so make sure you take extras if you think you might get hungry between meals.
Delta Airlines offers non-stop service from Atlanta, Detroit and Minneapolis to Grand Cayman.
JetBlue Airways offers non-stop service to Grand Cayman from New York (JFK), Ft. Lauderdale and seasonally to Boston (BOS).
United has non-stop service from Chicago, Houston, Newark and Washington, D.C.
WestJet offers non-stop service from Toronto to Grand Cayman on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.
Southwest Airlines offers daily non-stop service from Ft. Lauderdale and Houston to Grand Cayman.
Caribbean Airlines has recently started offering a route to Kingston, Jamaica.
Air Canada offers non-stop flights from Toronto to Grand Cayman twice a week.
American Airlines offers non-stop daily flights between Cayman and Miami, Dallas/Fort Worth, Charlotte and Philadelphia. The flights to Miami go three times a day.
